A holiday in the UK offers the chance to discover beauty spots closer to home. You can try new activities, venture to new places and sample different styles of accommodation. Here we share some of our favourite ways to mix up your staycation this year.
1. Hire a Boat
We have two holiday parks with boat launches available, and both offer boats for hire. First, we have Brighouse Bay, which is situated on the stunning coastline of Dumfries and Galloway and is surrounded by farmland. The beautiful long sandy beach is just metres away and this family friendly holiday park is perfectly positioned for enjoying the Scottish countryside. Activities such as fishing, walking and pony trekking are all available nearby. An all-tide slipway offers access to the sheltered bay.
Ladram Bay is set on the incredible Jurassic Coast in Devon and the perfect destination for families hoping to try watersports activities. The private beach offers access a picturesque private beach, where you can marvel at the impressive sandstone sea stacks that jut from the water. Boats are available for hire from the Beach Kiosk at the bottom of the slipway. They allow you can explore Ladram Bay like never before! The perfect activity for young explorers!
2. Upgrade From a Tent to a Camping Pod!
We know you love your tent, but how about taking a little less in your car and try a camping pod? You won't have the hassle of pitching your tent on arrival, so you'll be free to explore and try out things to do in the local area. You'll still need to bring your camping essentials, but you'll have far less setting up to do with a pod that's ready for you! This camping pod at Ord House Country Park in Northumberland not only boasts an idyllic location but it is very close to those beautiful Northumberland beaches.
3. Try Somewhere NEW!
It’s easy to become a creature of habit and travel to the same holiday destination year after year. But why not escape the boundaries of your comfort zone and try something new in 2021? If you typically visit a coastal resort, consider a countryside holiday park for your family getaway this summer. Holidaying in new surroundings will give you the opportunity to experience new scenery and participate in activities that may not be possible in other parts of the UK.
The Best of British Touring and Holiday Park group has more than 50 parks across England, Scotland and Wales, so you’ll be spoilt for choice when deciding what region of the UK to visit. Whether you choose a park in the South West, South East, Central, or Northern England, you’ll experience only the highest standards of accommodation and customer care.
We have a selection of countryside locations that you may want to consider. Tanner Farm Touring Caravan and Camping Park (pictured above) and Broadhembury Holiday Park are both in Kent, the 'garden of England'. With a landscape filled with the iconic oast houses and apple orchards, both parks are within easy reach of the M25. There is much to explore in Kent and if you'd like to combine your holiday with a trip into London, both offer excellent public transport links.
4. Experience Mountain Scenery
You don't need to travel 'too' far to experience stunning mountain scenery that will bring you closer to nature and leave you refreshed when you leave. Our most northerly holiday park, is Blair Castle Caravan Park in Perthshire. Located in the shadow of the historic Blair Castle in the village of Blair Atholl, the park is surrounded by the impressive landscape of the Cairngorms National Park. The spectacular mountain scenery, combined with superb facilities and local amenities mean you can explore and not need to go far from your accommodation.
5. Go On A Segway!
If you've been on a segway already, you'll know that the only skill you need is balance! Once you get the feel of the segway, it's a brilliant way to get round and tour areas quicker than if you were on foot. Listen to your instructor and take time to practice before heading out. Once you do, you'll wonder why we don't all have one of these fantastic machines! Photo credit: Blair Castle Caravan Park. Segways are also available at Green Hill Farm Caravan and Camping Park.
