Our wonderful member parks may be closed temporarily, but that doesn't mean we can't share what some of your favourites have been doing. Be it maintenance, daily walks or supporting the local community, Best of British parks have been keeping busy and are looking forward to welcoming you back when the time is right.
Maintaining our member parks is a year round process, but as the parks have a little more time than usual now, we thought we'd share what some of them have been up to. From grass cutting to planting hedgerows, solar lights to security, there's always something to do!
Trevalgan Touring Park, Cornwall
Trevalgan is a couple of miles from St Ives in Cornwall. The team have been showing off their horticultural skills by mowing the lawns and perfecting their stripes! Not only that, they are preparing their flower beds for the season ahead, cutting back and tidying. When in doubt, garden! There is a bus stop just outside the campsite entrance with regular buses into St Ives, where you can enjoy a day trip to Barbara Hepworth's Sculpture Garden or the Tate St Ives. One of Britain's oldest pubs, the Sloop Inn is on the harbour side and dates back to 1312. Get there early, it gets busy!
Hidden Valley Park, Devon
Hidden Valley Park is based near Ilfracombe in Devon and they had been working on some major maintenance projects as the parks were asked to close. Here's the team hard at work on some pitches in the glorious Devon sunshine. The park have a growing list of achievements, including; the Gold David Bellamy Conservation Award, a 5 star rating by 'Visit England', winners of 'Holiday Park of the Year' and the AA 5 Pennants Award. Whether you're looking for a campsite to pitch your tent, or touring caravan spaces, Hidden Valley in Devon has it all.
Ladram Bay Holiday Park, Devon
The Ladram Bay Holiday Park grounds maintenance team have been busy mowing the grass and tending to the flower beds to ensure that when they re-open, the site will be fresh as a daisy. The park boasts stunning views of the Jurassic Coast and a private beach with water activities. This family owned and run park is the ideal family holiday destination with facilities to keep every family member entertained. The stunning location is complemented perfectly by the landscaping and it's great to see the team being able to carry on with this while they are closed.
Bath Chew Valley Caravan Park, Somerset
Just before the site closed, Bath Chew Valley Caravan Park shared this image showing the results of the hard work put in by their Grounds Team, who work throughout the year to make sure the site is always looking its best. Exclusively for adults, the park has hardstanding and fully serviced pitches and lodges set amongst lawns, shrubs and floral beds. It is situated within easy reach of Bath, Bristol, Wells and Weston-super-Mare, as well as the Mendip Hills and Somerset attractions.
Green Hill Farm Caravan and Camping Park, Wiltshire
Green Hill Farm have just installed 40 new solar lights around the park. They have been placed on the main walkways, disposal and water points to improve visibility at night. Open all year round, they just debuted them before the current closure, along with giving their pods a facelift. A beautiful site in both daylight and solar light (!) – the park is based on the edge of the New Forest and includes 3 beautiful lakes. The new lights will brighten up the already fabulous park, beautifully.
Plassey Leisure Park, Wales
Plassey is situated in the beautiful Dee Valley and is set within 250 acres of stunning private grounds with breathtaking views. So it's no surprise that this North Wales based park spends a lot of time maintaining the grass. Here's Will strimming the lawn! We're not sure if he maintains the golf course too, but with these skills, watch out greenkeepers! There's a range of accommodation at Plassey, from glamping lodges to safari tents, complete with private hot tubs. The ultimate in holiday relaxation.
Riverside Caravan Park, Lancashire
Riverside Caravan Park has been owned by the Marshall family since its development from a green field on the banks of the River Wenning in the late 1960s into the lovely caravan park it is now, offering touring pitches and holiday homes and lodges for sale. When Riverside posted this image, they said this was the first time in 45 years that Thomas hadn't had to mend a boiler first thing on a Good Friday morning. But, Thomas instead made himself busy with the lawnmower of dreams!
Eye Kettleby Lakes, Leicestershire
… and finally, to Eye Kettleby Lakes in Melton Mowbray. How could we not mention the new security arrangements?! A no entry sign and a one way sign didn't bother this security guard one bit!
