Woodovis Park – Devon Tourism Awards – GOLD Award Winners!
We are thrilled to announce that our friends at Woodovis Park in Devon won GOLD in the Devon Tourism Awards recently! They were named Camping and Caravanning Park Of The Year, and we are thrilled for the team. Woodovis is a small family run holiday park, set in 14 acres near Tavistock. There are 50 touring caravan pitches and 50 tent pitches. Due to its location near the border, you can visit both Devon AND Cornwall when you stay here.
With a commitment to the environment, quality and cleanliness, Woodovis offers a safe, friendly and luxurious holiday destination. And above all, you can be guaranteed a warm and friendly welcome. We asked them to answer a few questions about their win…
How did it feel to win the top honour?
We were so honoured and delighted to have won Camping & Caravanning Park of the Year by the Devon Tourism Awards. We work extremely hard to ensure the park is always maintained to a high standard and is kept up to date with new ideas to improve our customer’s holidays. The award proves that hard work and team work really does pay off. We are so lucky to have an extremely hard working dedicated team and such loyal customers who visit us time and time again.
Why do you think you won?
We were told by the judging panel that Woodovis won due to our green credentials, customer reviews and feedback and the way we look after our team.
What does the park offers visitors?
Woodovis Park offers a wide range of five star accommodation and experiences for our guests, such as glamping, touring, caravanning, camping and staying in luxury caravans. Not only do we offer a great customer experience but we also focus on our customer service and always ensure that the service we provide is five star. At Woodovis Park we offer an indoor heated swimming pool, jacuzzi and spa, all fully sustained by solar energy. For our doggie friends we offer a doggie spa, a lovely place to wash and pamper pet pooches with warm water, organic shampoo and a hairdryer!
We offer a dog exercise area, our beautiful wooded walk, made up of almost 300 young trees, is a lovely place to take a stroll to lead your dog to our lower meadow where they are safe off the lead and run free as nature intended. Our on site shop stocks most things you’ll need on your holiday, from shampoo to Champagne! Lots of local produce: free range eggs, butchers’ meat, jams and pickles, and of course, Dartmoor Farm clotted cream ice cream. We also bake bread, croissants, and pain-au-chocolat every morning for our guests. We provide a fully equipped motor home servicing point and free EV charging station. Plus, a campers kitchen with all the endless supplies you need for camping, for example; microwave, fridge, freezer, kitchen utensils etc to ensure our campers enjoy their holiday to its full potential.
We have recently added our brand new pizza oven, which cooks authentic Italian stone baked Margherita pizza to perfection in just 3 minutes! Pizzas are available to buy in the Woodovis shop and our fab new pizza oven can be found in our Campers Kitchen.
What changes you have made recently?
We continuously try to make changes at Woodovis Park to improve our customer’s holidays and the customer service we provide, we also make changes to ensure everything runs as smoothly as possible for our team. We have a big focus on environmental changes. Our main focus for the last two years has been renewable energy. Within the last six months, Woodovis Park has become a fully self-sufficient park with green energy now being used to supply electricity to Woodovis with its very own Solar Array Panel System with a 100 KWH battery. According to the EPA website, a 79kW solar system avoids the equivalent of an estimated 750,000 pounds of carbon dioxide being released into the air each year, doing the work of approximately 450 mature trees, which is the equivalent of growing a forest.
Our commitment to environmental sustainability is ever growing but we are so proud of being one step closer to making our holiday park fully environmentally friendly. We also add other changes regularly such as adding a bike wash (and the Campers Kitchen and pizzas ovens) to improve our customers experience.
You focus on environmentally friendly/sustainability initiatives. What would you like visitors know before they book?
What makes our holiday park unique is not only the service we provide but our commitment to the environment. It’s easy to reel off green platitudes, but at Woodovis we try to make it a natural part of the way the business is run. The beauty of our park and surrounding areas is one of the main reasons you come here – we want to sustain that for generations to come. Our main focus for the last two years has been renewable energy. The park is now fully self-sufficient with green energy. We also have our own fresh water bore hole which provides Woodovis with its own private water supply from the surrounding land which keeps costs down for guests. Last year we also supplied water pumps to heat our indoor swimming pool with extra solar panels on the swimming pool roof. Not only do all the green credentials we have to offer here at Woodovis improve our environmental commitment but it also allows us to keep costs down for our guests. With the ever growing costs of energy we have been able to ensure our prices are maintained to a reasonable and affordable price to allow our customers to continue to visit us time and time again.
