The owners of a caravan park in Somerset are celebrating after winning bronze at the South West Tourism Excellence Awards.
Waterrow Touring Park picked up the bronze award in the Camping & Caravanning Park of the Year category during the black tie dinner in the Lansdown Suite at Ashton Gate Stadium in Bristol on February 2.

The South West Tourism Awards received 602 entries made across the South West and a team of judges undertook a record 380 visits. A hundred-and-three of the finalists have also been nominated as the South West representatives in the national VisitEngland awards.

The Cook family, including Jamie’s wife, Lynette and parents Maureen and Graham, bought Waterrow Touring Park in December 2013 from previous owners Anne and Tony Taylor, who started developing the site in 1998.
The park is open to caravans and motorhomes up to a maximum of 28ft and is nestled in the wooded valley of the River Tone, approximately 16 miles from Taunton. It is within easy reach of Exmoor, the Quantocks and the North Somerset and East Devon coastlines.
All pitches have a 16 amp electric hook-up and TV-booster systems are available. Holidayers have access to the full set of facilities, which include heated shower and toilet blocks, a disabled wetroom, wireless broadband, laundry facilities and access to the site’s woodland area.
People are also able to take their canine companions on holiday with them as the park is dog-friendly.
Jamie and Lynette have been caravanners for more than 20 years. They have developed the site to encourage wildlife, including owls, otters, deer, birds, butterflies and other insects.
The park has achieved a five star status with the English Tourism Council, AA five pennant Quality Inspected and has a David Bellamy Gold Award. In 2016 it won Gold at the Bristol, Bath and Somerset Tourism Awards for Camping and Caravanning Park of the Year 2016/17.
