If you’re heading off to a holiday park near the beach, finding a top notch pub is high on a lot of people’s check lists. Here we take a look at 10 of the best coastal pubs in Britain. Located opposite the beach this stone and slate pub may be modest in stature however the reviews and reputation of this establishment are anything but.

You can pop in here for a quick cosy drink however be warned you may well end up staying for dinner! The place is typically full of locals and walkers and has a lovely atmosphere. It is very dog friendly, has friendly staff and good pub grub with traditional home cooked food on the menu. There are beautiful views of the beach and the sea beyond from inside the pub.

This unpretentious pub is located directly beneath the famous White Cliffs. They serve a British menu which is based on local produce. There is a the beautiful front verandah which has a barbeque and bar where you can enjoy their fayre whilst knowing that you’re in Britain’s nearest pub to France.

There is an open air fire place that they run during cold days. Perfect way to warm up your fingers after playing in the rock pools. With very friendly staff, good food, stunning views and tasty locally brewed beer, what more could you wish for?!

Describing themselves as a rustic-chic pub the Gurnard’s Head is set in a stunning rural location with unspoilt views of the Atlantic Ocean.

The food here is simple, earthy and delicious and includes lots of local ingredients. It is all cooked to order and the menu changes a little everyday depending on what their suppliers are bringing them. The beers, wine and sherries have all been carefully chosen because the owner’s love them.

Inside the pub you can expect to see lots of local artwork and a cosy log fireplace blazing on colder days. Dogs are also very welcome. If you’re in the area, this is one to make a special trip to visit.

Step into the Smuggler’s Den and experience the oldest pub in Morecambe which dates back to circa 1640. Think of a quintessential cosy pub and this is it – dark low-beams and a flag stone floor. A real oldy worldy place that’s full of character just a short walk away from the seafront.

The welcome here is friendly and warm, especiallly in the colder months when an impressive open fire will heat the bar area and its patrons. There are stained-glass windows plus some interesting maritime artefacts and brass shell-cases on display. They don’t currently serve food here so this is one for drinks and bar snacks.

Voted the VisitEngland pub of the year 2017 the Anchor Inn has been recognised as a special pub located in an extra special setting. It is owned by Palmers Brewery who have over 50 pubs in Dorset, Devon and Somerset.There are few places that can compete with this one as it ticks so many boxes. Nestled right on the coast between Golden Cap and Thorncoombe Beacon, the large patio area and grassy beer garden enjoys exceptional views of the World Heritage Site that is the Jurassic Coast.

If you’re stopping for a bite to eat then you won’t be disappointed with the quality of food on offer. Whether you order a traditional pub favourite or one of the locally sourced seafood specials the result will be fresh flavours and decent sized potions. As you can imagine booking is highly recommended at this popular spot.

The Ship Inn is a great little pub where you can expect friendly service and fresh food at this nautical themed bar and restaurant. The large, single-paned window at the front of the building really makes the most of the sea views. This is a ideal spot to stop and watch all activity on the river Tay.

The ship is always a great place for a meal with well prepared food coming from the busy kitchen. They serve large portions of tradional pub food and are particularly reknowned for their fish and chips. They also keep good quality real ale on tap as well as cilled bubbles for special occassions.

The Hele Bay Pub is a fantastic family-friendly pub situated by the sea in the village of Hele Bay near Ilfracombe. There is a large beer garden which overlooks the sea. There’s also a family room with skittle alley, table football, pool table and a children’s soft play area. All ideal for the kids to burn off some energy.

They have a great selection of real ales, beers and wines and have some great deals available on their themed nights including two steaks and a bottle of wine from £30.00.

If you’re staying in South Devon and want to experience an authentic 15th Century pub then the Thatched Tavern in Maidencombe is a great option. The warmth and excellent service you’ll recieve from everyone who works there is second to none. It has a lovely country garden to enjoy and is located just off the South West Coast Path so the beach is just a short walk away.

In this beautiful quaint pub the food and drink here is very good indeed. They endevour to use free range, organic and specialist ingredients sourced seasonally from local businesses in Devon and the South West.

Situated on Shanklin esplanade if you place yourself on the terrace at The Steamer Inn and enjoy panoramic views across Sandown Bay to the English Channel. Serving freshly caught local seafood as well as traditional British food. To drink they have an extensive wine list and fine selection of real ales and beers.

Originally the building that this bar is located in was a public toilet however don’t let that fact put you off coming here. The Admiral Benbow Beachbar is now a cool beach bar with an outdoor seating area built on the beach inself. This gives the impression of being on board a pirate ship. This area is great for families as children can play on the beach in sight of Mum and Dad whilst they enjoy a drink on board the ship. Just check that the flag is flying on the boats mast and you will know it’s open

This place is also a hit with do owners as they are welcomed just as much as their owners. They serve treats, ice cream, beer and prosecco all made just for dogs!
