At the recent Hoseasons conference John and Dorothy Lewis, owners of Woodovis Park in Devon, were awarded finalist in the Diamond Award, given for “exceptional quality and outstanding customer service” across Devon, Somerset & Dorset in the Relax & Explore category.
Also recently in Bristol, at the annual Green Tourism Conference, they were awarded the Goldstar Award for the most sustainable holiday park in the UK and Ireland!
Dorothy and John said 'We’re lucky enough to live in one of the most beautiful parts of the UK and we love sharing this with visitors, but it’s essential that tourism doesn’t detract from this stunning environment. It’s fantastic to have our commitment to delivering sustainable holidays recognised and we’re thrilled to be the top holiday park in the UK.'
All of the finalists, which include 34 from England, 23 from Scotland, five from Wales and one from the Channel Islands, were chosen from over 2,400 green tourism companies assessed for their innovation, cost savings and green ambassadorship during 2012-2013.
Now in their third year the annual awards aim to honour those businesses and organisations that have done the most to promote sustainability within the industry by implementing cost-saving practices that help the environment, improve customer services and benefit the bottom line. The finalists represent the top three per cent of Green Tourism businesses in the UK.
