If you book at stay at Cherry Tree Touring Park in Lincolnshire between 28 May – 4 September 2016 you can take a day out to view the 'Wave' poppies sculpture at Lincoln Castle. The breath-taking sculpture was originally conceived as the key dramatic sculptural elements in the installation Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red at the Tower of London in the autumn of 2014
Lincolnshire has many strong ties with landmark events in World War I, when Lincoln Castle was used by the Lincolnshire Regiment for fundraisers and parades. The world’s first operational tank (as well as aircraft and munitions) were manufactured in Lincoln, and countrywide there were thirty seven military aerodromes by 1918. Seven Lincolnshire battalions also took part in the Battle of the Somme in 1916.
Lincoln Castle, a symbol synonymous with Lincoln, was built almost 1,000 years ago by William the Conqueror, and is home to one of only four surviving original 1215 Magna Cartas.
Cherry Tree is an exculsively adults only touring park. It is suitable for touring caravans, motorhomes and trailer tents on the Lincolnshire coast just a few minutes from the sea and sandy beaches and only a 30 minute walk from the town of Sutton On Sea.
