There are numerous apps on the market that can provide invaluable advice, guidance and entertainment during your time away from home. We’ve selected some of our favourite camping and caravanning apps for you to try during your next stay at one of our Best of British holiday parks.

1) PackPoint Travel Packing List

Camping holidays require organisation and careful pre-planning. There are so many things to bring, it can be difficult to remember them all! Never forget your tent poles again with PackPoint Travel Packing List. Simply enter where you are going and what you are going to be doing whilst you’re there and the app will create a packing list suggesting items suitable for the local weather conditions. The premium version lets you edit the lists and create custom activities to suit your family’s needs.

2) Met Office Weather Forecast

We all know the great British weather can change in an instance. One moment it can be gloriously sunny and the next there’s a downpour. Stay up to date with the latest weather forecast with the Met Office App, which gives you access to a 7 day forecast in one simple view. You can also set alerts for pollen counts and severe weather warnings, so you can be prepared for all eventualities.

3) Copilot Caravan

Anyone who’s ever towed a caravan will know the difficulties you can sometimes face. Never worry about low bridges, narrow streets or tight turns ever again with Copilot Caravan, a handy SatNav app which provides offline navigation specifically designed for larger vehicles. The routes are carefully calculated to take your caravan or motorhomes height, weight and length into consideration.

4) Antenna Aligner

We know tuning your TV can sometimes be tricky, especially if it’s your first time at a site. The Antenna Aligner will help you select the transmitter with the best signal strength and show you which direction to point your aerial. This handy app will also tell you which channels to focus on.

5) Coleman Get Outdoors

Whilst the Coleman Get Outdoors app is largely designed for the American market, it is still convenient tool for a family camping trip in the UK. With articles and videos covering everything from what to pack and where to pitch your tent, this app is filled with top tips well suited to both complete beginners and experienced campers. Our favourite are the camping recipes and campfire game suggestions!

6) Caravan Level – With Speech

Levelling your caravan can be a challenge but not with this useful talking app. Simply place your phone on a flat service and listen out for the instructions, which will tell you how many degrees or blocks you need to raise or lower each side of the caravan. For added convenience you can even link the app to a Bluetooth speaker or headphones, so your won’t have to keep coming inside!

7) First Aid by British Red Cross

We know accidents can happen, especially when you’re spending a lot of time outdoors. Download the British Red Cross’s free first aid guide and prepare yourself for a number of situations, through interactive quizzes and video tutorials. There’s also an emergency section, which gives you access to simple step by step guides, which can be accessed without internet connection.

8) Star Walk 2

One of the greatest things about camping is sleeping under the stars. Download the Star Walk 2 app for help spotting constellations and planets as you lay back and enjoy the night sky. There’s also a child friendly version, which will help spark an interest in space in younger members of the family!

9) National Trust Days Out

When you arrive at a new place for the first time it can be difficult to know where to go and what activities are on offer. The National Trust Days Out app suggests places of interest near your location, as well as events happening at National Trust owned historic houses and gardens across the UK.

10) Trail Chef

Take the hassle out of cooking with the Trail Chef app. With 60 delicious tried and tested recipes that are easy to cook on a stove outdoors, you’ll enjoy meals fit for king during your camping trip to a Best of British park. Plan your ingredients ahead of time using the meal planning tool and use the favourites category to highlight your 'must haves' for easy access!
