The Best of British Parks lead the way in the Top 100 Sites 2017 Awards from Practical Caravan and Practical Motorhome.
Every year the Practical Caravan and Practical Motorhome magazines ask their readers to nominate their favourite holiday stays and caravan parks in their Top 100 Awards scheme. The votes are then counted up and their expert team decide on a Top 100 list for tourers, tents and holiday caravans.
The BoB parks did exceptionally well this year, with South Lytchett Manor Caravan & Camping Park near Poole taking the top honours of overall Top Site for 2017 and at least four BoB parks appearing in the top ten for each category.
The list highlights how hard the park owners and their support teams work to ensure you have a great stay with them. It also shows that they really are the Best of British Holiday Parks.

“The staff were welcoming and helpful: nothing was too much trouble. The site is well laid-out, immaculately maintained and the facilities are excellent. I would highly recommend this site to others visiting the area.”
“The showers and toilet facilities are always so clean, and the pitches are well-maintained. There is a bus stop outside the gates, to Poole or Swanage.”
“We have been coming to South Lytchett for the past five years in our various tents, and now our caravan. We just love the atmosphere, the facilities are second-to-none, and the location is perfect for exploring the area.”
Here’s what the voters for the Top 100 Sites Guide said about Whitefield Forest Touring Park:
“The best amenities block that we have come across in 10 years of touring. There is an excellent nature trail/dog walk with the opportunity to see red squirrels! The friendly staff go the extra mile.”
“The site is beautifully set out with good-sized pitches. The setting in the forest is lovely, the toilet block is super and everywhere is very neat, tidy and clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend it!”
“The site is in a lovely setting with very spacious pitches. It has first-class, immaculate facilities. It’s very convenient for the ferry at Ryde and access to the site is easy. A very friendly, hard-working team.”
Here’s what the voters for the Top 100 Sites Guide said about Old Brick Kilns:
“In a quiet location, ideally situated between Holt and Fakenham, giving quick and easy access to the north Norfolk Coast, and Norfolk in general.”
“I was very impressed by the spotless toilets and showers; everything else on the site was first-class, too. I have been caravanning for 40 years and can truly say this is the best site we have stayed on. Cannot wait to return.”
“Beautiful site with excellent amenities, the staff are so friendly and they serve great meals in Barney’s Restaurant. We have being coming here for seven years, and it has really improved its standards over that period of time.”
Here’s what the voters for the Top 100 Sites Guide said about Bath Chew Valley Caravan Park:
“The separate parking area for cars made the site look very calm and tidy, and with no cars driving around it was very peaceful – which was also down to there being no children! We liked the individual bathrooms, which were warm and clean. We received a warm and professional welcome from the staff. There’s a nice stroll around the lake close by, as well as a pub and restaurant within walking distance.”
“It is a really well-kept site: very clean and tidy. The toilet/shower block was the best we have ever seen. It was like having individual en suites. The staff were very friendly: they even positioned our caravan on the pitch for us.”
“Very friendly and helpful staff, and in a lovely location with easy access to a plethora of days out in famous locations such as Wells, Bath, Weston-super-Mare, Wookey Hole, Cheddar Gorge and so on. The peace and tranquility were wonderful following a busy year to date in the office.”
Here’s what the voters for the Top 100 Sites Guide said about Ross Park Caravan Park:
“This is the best-managed site that we have ever stayed at. It is extremely dog-friendly, with a fantastic area for them to run around in (more of a park) and a restaurant – serving lovely food – where you can take dogs into the conservatory. Every pitch here is well-maintained.”
“I loved everything! I finally visited this site with my son and daughter-in-law; they have been to Ross Park for more than seven years, and always had great things to say about it. I did not appreciate how good the park was until I saw it for myself, and all I can say is wow! We visited the restaurant and this was also amazing. I will definitely be visiting again and again in future.”
Here’s what the voters for the Top 100 Sites Guide said about The Orchards Holiday Park:
“A giant, friendly welcome and the staff couldn’t do more to settle us in. Great facilities – lovely and clean – and surrounded by wonderful views and sunshine at the end of October. This will be the first of many more visits.”
“Warm and spacious toilet and shower facilities that were very clean and well-maintained, while providing unlimited hot water! These facilities were also never closed for cleaning, because the work was done very early each morning, and around the customers if necessary. It also has an excellent takeaway-food restaurant that doesn’t do fast food, but cooked great food fast.”
Here’s what the voters for the Top 100 Sites Guide said about Woodovis Holiday Park:
“Our trip to Woodovis was wonderful. The staff were helpful and friendly. The facilities are well-looked-after and we liked how much was done to be eco-friendly. The setting is beautiful and it was lovely to find tucked-away seating to enjoy fantastic views and amazing sunsets.”
“We loved everything. It’s well-run and very clean, and great if you have a dog – there’s a lovely field where they can play. Good swimming pool and play area, plus friendly staff that make you feel welcome.”
Here’s what the voters for the Top 100 Sites Guide said about Hendra Holiday Park
“It’s fantastic. Love the entertainment programme and the facilities for the family.”
“My husband, 19-year-old daughter and I intended to just use the site as a base for sightseeing, but the caravan was such a fantastic standard that it was like a home from home. We came back in the afternoons just to relax – it was spotlessly clean and so comfortable: just brilliant. We also used the on-site facilities such as the shop, takeaway and bar for a late drink. We will be here again in 2017 without a doubt.”
