Each year the AA inspect holiday parks across the UK to compile the Caravan and Camping Guide. As part of this inspection process, they award a number of prestigious prizes, which aim to recognise holiday parks with the best facilities, hospitality, customer care and landscaping.

We are delighted to announce that 6 of the Best of British holiday parks have won a coveted 2020 AA Caravan and Camping Award. They will receive the highly sought-after prize at the annual awards ceremony, due to take place in January.

AA Campsite of the Year – Wales and Overall Winner

Plassey Holiday Park is the proud recipient of the Welsh Campsite of the Year Award. The Holiday Park is set in the picturesque Dee Valley and comprises of 250 acres of park and woodland.

The Brookshaw family have worked hard to renovate farmyard buildings to create a unique leisure facility, which contains everything a family could need for a fun filled stay. Facilities include a restaurant, coffee shop, hair and beauty salon, gift shops, over 20 retail outlets as well as a swimming pool, fishing pond and golf course.

In addition to fully serviced touring pitches, there are a number of glamping options and luxury lodges with hot tubs.

AA inspectors were particularly impressed with the parks landscaping, commenting on the neatness of grassed surfaces and the clever planting of indigenous and seasonal flowers.


AA Campsite of the Year – England

Eye Kettleby Lakes in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire has been crowned Campsite of The Year (England). This impressive, family run holiday park has been welcoming visitors for over 30 years and is renowned for its luxury accommodation, attention to detail and friendly atmosphere.

The holiday park is situated in tranquil grounds surrounded by countryside. It is a paradise for nature lovers and is the perfect base for exploring the local area, with plenty of scenic walks from the park. One of the main draws for visitors is the parks 9 established coarse fishing lakes, which are stocked with a number of specimen fish.

The team at Eye Kettleby Lakes park prides themselves on offering a high standard of accommodation, which includes glamping pods, luxury log cabins and an adult only touring park. They go the extra mile to create a luxury escape, with food hampers, flowers and holistic therapies available on request.

Many of the accommodation options include hot tubs and some have their own indoor sauna. There is also an onsite bar and a number of events held throughout the year.

Judges commended the owners ongoing investment in the park and were impressed by the completion of a number of refurbishment projects across the site. They also noted colourful planting, immaculate landscaping and spotlessly clean communal facilities.


AA Campsite of the Year – South West England


East Fleet Touring Park has won the regional prize for the South West. The park is set in a spectacular location next to the Fleet Lagoon, boasting views over renowned Chesil Beach. There is direct access to the South West Coast Path as well as numerous countryside routes to explore.

Visitors to this popular Dorset holiday park can enjoy a range of child friendly facilities, including a play area and barn with table tennis and other play equipment. 3 amenity blocks are maintained to the highest standards and feature a number of family rooms, which are new for the 2019 season. AA inspectors were impressed with pitch sizes, which are more than adequate for even the largest tents.

The onsite bar, The WhyNot Inn serves a wide range of drinks as well as hosting quiz nights and other events during the peak season. There is also a festival food area, with fish and chip and pizza vans.


AA Campsite of the year – South East England 

Lincoln Farm Park has won the coveted AA award for South East England, beating a number of worthy contenders to win the illustrious prize. The 5-star park is set in a prime location in the heart of the Oxfordshire countryside with easy access to the Cotswolds and a number of local attractions.

Guests at Lincoln Farm Park can expect immaculate touring and camping pitches, with a variety of options available. There is also a state-of-the-art leisure centre and fitness suite, providing the perfect place to relax and unwind.

The AA judges praised recent changes to the park, noting the newly refurbished reception area and colourful hanging baskets. They also complimented improvements to the shop and noted the arrival of new gym equipment as well as a new children’s play area.

The team at Lincoln Farm Park have a number of exciting improvements planned for the future. These include the addition of a hairdressers and petanque court.


AA Campsite of the year – Heart of England

Clippesby Hall is one of the most recent additions to the Best of British Group of touring and holiday parks. It is set in the heart of the Norfolk countryside and boasts an extensive range of accommodation options, including pine lodges, apartments, shepherds huts and holiday cottages. There are 7 designated camping and touring areas spread across the country house estate, each with its own distinct look and feel. Choose whether you prefer woodland camping surrounded by trees or a pitch on one of the open fields.

There are plenty of activities and facilities on site to keep the whole family entertained. There is an excellent outdoor play park which is sure to provide hours of entertainment for children of all ages. There is also a tennis court, cycle trail, mini golf course and outdoor swimming pool as well as the newly opened Basecamp bar and restaurant.

Judges commended the wide variety of touring and camping pitches available. They also remarked on the high levels of cleanliness in the amenity blocks and across the site.


AA Holiday Centre of the Year

Hendra Holiday Park has been awarded the Best Holiday Centre Prize by the AA, with judges congratulating the hard work of the independent and long serving management team. The judges particularly liked Hendra’s focus on the environment, praising the parks solar farm and recycling initiatives.

The family orientated park, is located just outside of Newquay, Cornwall’s most popular holiday destination. It is a hit with families, thanks to its extensive range of facilities and entertainment options.

Hendra’s Oasis Pools help it stands out from the crowd with indoor water slides, geysers and fountains. The entertainment team host an action-packed events and entertainment programme, with something to keep children of all ages entertained. Activities include Segway tours, Zorbing and even a Pirates Academy.

There is an excellent variety of accommodation options, including 12 fields of touring pitches and 10 wooden pods.
