Why escape to an exotic holiday destination when we have some of the best beaches in the world on our doorstep? The UK has a number of award-winning beaches, which have been rated highly for their water quality and visitor experience.
Many of the coastal holiday parks within the Best of British group offer high quality accommodation with the added bonus of a sea views. Nothing beats looking out over the water with a glass of wine in hand from the privacy of your own veranda. Fire up the BBQ and watch the sun dip below the horizon signifying the end of a perfect day.
Seaside activities
For many guests the seaside conjures up happy childhood memories of long days spent playing on swing boats, watching Punch and Judy and riding a donkey along the sand. Whilst plenty of the UK’s most popular seaside resorts still offer traditional entertainment, there are so many exciting activities on offer to make memories with your own children.
Why not try exciting adrenaline fuelled activities such as surfing, coasteering, kayaking or even a boat trip? Some of our holiday parks have equipment such as stand up paddle boards to hire, so you don’t even have to travel off site. If you prefer something a little more laid back, you could try a spot of fishing, crabbing, rock pooling, kite flying or try to hone your stone skimming skills!
Sample fresh sea food
One of the best things about visiting the coast is sampling the delights of the sea. During your stay you will be able to try fish and shellfish sourced from boats who have fished the local waters that day! You can’t get fresher than that!
Dangle your legs over the harbour wall as you watch the boats land their days catch. If you’re in the seaside spirit you could also try catching your own dinner to grill on the BBQ back at the site.
Walk to the beach
There’s nothing worse than arriving at the beach only to find out that the car parks are already full! Fortunately, many of our coastal holiday parks are within walking distance to the beach, so you can leave the car at home and arrive by foot. Some of our parks even have direct beach access, so you can wake up and be on the beach within minutes.
For guests interested in hiking our costal holiday parks are the perfect starting point for scenic walks. We have a number of parks situated on the famed South West Coast Path offering far reaching views from cliff top paths.
Shopping
We know many of our guests like to indulge in a spot of retail therapy during their holiday to stock up on souvenirs and other bits and bobs. The pretty seaside towns close to Best of British parks offer a wealth of shopping opportunity, where you can while away a couple of hours and enjoy a leisurely afternoon. You’ll find a host treasures to bring home during your time pursuing quaint independent shops, boutiques and art galleries and bakeries!
Relax and unwind
Relax, unwind and let the stresses of daily life dissolve as you enjoy lazy days at the beach. Sit back in your deck chair and enjoy a picnic as you watch the waves roll in. We’ve been fortunate to have some beautiful weather over the last couple of years, perfect for laying back, sunbathing and getting some much-needed vitamin D.
If the weather is not playing ball, there’s no need to worry, a beach holiday can be a treat even on the gloomiest of days. There’s something quite cathartic about a walk along the beach on a blustery day, wrapped up warm in your winter coast as the waves crash on the shore.
