The AA Caravan and Camping Award winners have been announced for 2019 and we are ecstatic that 6 Best of British parks have been recognised. This coveted award celebrates excellence across a number of categories, including customer service and facilities.
Concierge Camping in Chichester, West Sussex has won the highly sought after Campsite of the Year Award. This relatively new park has gone from strength to strength since its inception in 2015, thanks to constant development and improvements.
In addition to four safari tents, more than 27 units have been added to the park this year. Only the best fixtures and fittings have been used throughout the site, which have helped to create a luxurious feel. Visitors to the park will enjoy a hotel standard amenities block that boasts the best heating and air conditioning on the market, as well as breakfast hampers and a shop serving the finest local produce.
Despite being a small site, AA inspectors have labelled Concierge Camping an “exciting park” and have commended owners, Guy and Tracey Hodgkin for their attention to detail, remarking that they have “raised the quality bar“.
Trawsdir Touring Caravans and Camping Park has won the regional award for Campsite of the Year (Wales). Situated within easy reach of Barmouth, a popular seaside town, the park is a superb choice for families looking to spend some quality time together near the coast.
The AA has recognised Trawsdir’s strides to improve sustainability across the park, an issue that owner Bob Williams cares deeply about. Bob has invested heavily in measures that reduce the sites impact on the environment, by purchasing pioneering systems to supply water and electricity in an eco-friendly way.
Trethem Mill Touring Park is no stranger to AA awards, having won the accolade for Most Improved Campsite in 2012. In the years since, the family team at Trethem Mill have worked hard to continually improve their offering, creating a peaceful environment close to the Cornish coast that sees guests returning year on year.
The park is set within a rural location, just one mile from the sea. Touring visitors will enjoy fully serviced pitches surrounded by beautiful flower arrangements, shrubbery and mature trees. There is also an on-site shop and well appointed toilet and shower block, with under floor heating.
Broadhembury Caravan and Camping Park offers guests the best of both worlds, with designated family and adult only areas. Visitors with children can make the most of a range of on site activities, including games room, sports park and adventure play.
The new adult-only meadow has paved the way for new developments, including hard standing pitches and a motor home service point. The adult only area is quiet and peaceful, allowing guests to fully appreciate the countryside setting.
Owners Sally and Lee have also expanded their hire fleet to include two lotus Bell Tents, to offer the discerning traveller a taste of luxury during their stay.
Oxon Hall Touring Park has been praised for its wonderful landscaping and horticulture throughout the park. Great care and attention has been paid to the site to ensure that pitches are pristine and that beautiful flora and fauna arrangements greet guests, whatever the season. Within the the sites grounds, a wildlife pond creates the ideal place for a number of species to thrive.
The park is well placed for enjoying the town of Shrewsbury with easy access to a park and ride bus service. Oxon Hall is the ideal destination for visitors looking for first class customer service.
Ord House Country Park is set within the manicured grounds of an 18th Century mansion. It’s unique location affords visitors an enjoyable stay, with so much to see and do. Recent investment to improve facilities for children is impressive and the park now features a soft play area, football field, adventure playground and mini golf.
The on-site environmental initiatives including the Woodland Walk and Hedgehog Hotel have also been commended by AA inspectors, suggesting that they are a fantastic addition to the park and “add to the overall ethos”.
Each of the award winning parks will receive a special feature in the upcoming AA Caravan and Camping guide 2019.
