Hendra Holiday Park in Newquay, Cornwall handed over a massive £13,252.22 to Cornwall Hospice Care this week, the proceeds from fundraising at the park throughout last year.

Janine Hyatt, director said ‘Two members of our staff, sisters Emma and Lydia Sandry, lost their mum Judy in 2016 who was cared for in her last days by Cornwall Hospice Care. This prompted the selection of this local charity for our annual fundraising for 2017.  This is one of the largest amounts we have raised and is certainly the result of the the hard work of Hendra team members in support of their bereaved colleagues by running events and raffles.  Our guests opting into making a donation with their accommodation booking and taking part in fundraising activities, charity tin collections on the park, and a contribution of £500 from our park shop franchisee JJ Wilson.’

Judy Lawton, the charities community fund raiser for mid Cornwall said ‘This is a fantastic donation and will make a real difference to our efforts to support patients and their families.  Cornwall Hospice Care is a Cornish charity that provides specialist care for those with terminal illnesses 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The clinical teams support in and out patients and their families at Mount Edgcumbe Hospice in St Austell, St Julia’s Hospice in Hayle and in Cornwall’s hospitals, care homes and in the community.’

Emma Sandry said ‘Lydia and I are overwhelmed by the amount raised for Cornwall Hospice Care who gave the very best care to our mum and immeasurable support to our family.  Mum’s dying wish was for money to be raised for the Hospice in her memory, due to the positive impact they had in the final weeks of her life.  We would like to thank everyone who donated from the bottom of our hearts, Mum would be bursting with happiness!’

Hendra raises funds for charity each year and the beneficiaries for 2018 are MacMillan Nurses.
