Best of British parks sweep the board at South West Tourism Excellence Awards

Three members of the Best of British Touring & Holiday Parks Group, a marketing group of 50 Five star, privately owned prestigious parks throughout the UK, have taken the top Gold & Silver prizes at the South West Tourism Excellence Awards 2009-2010, with another Best of British park, Dolbeare, at Saltash also qualifying as a finalist.

Trethem Mill Touring Park at St Just in Roseland near St Mawes, is very proud to have received the Gold award at the recent ceremony at Saunton Sands Hotel in Devon.  This came hot on the heels of the park winning Gold at the Cornwall Tourism Awards a few weeks earlier.

Ian Akeroyd, owner of Trethem Mill said: “We are absolutely delighted that our continued commitment and investment in the Park has been recognised.  These awards have shown that we are at the forefront of our industry.”

Woodovis Park in Tavistock, Devon, took the Silver award, which was presented to the owners, John and Dorothy Lewis, by Gill Williams, Travel Editor of the Sunday Mirror.

Peter and Simon Dewhirst from Dornafield at Newton Abbot, were also delighted to receive a Silver award.

The Chairman of the Best of British Group, Claire Jeavons, said:

‘I am extremely delighted that Best Of British took all the places at the Awards ceremony this year,  beating off competition from over 300 parks from across Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, Somerset, Dorset, Devon and Cornwall.  All Best of British parks, pride themselves on going that extra mile for our customers and are all committed to providing the highest quality holidays for their visitors.’
