Electric Bike for Poston Mill

Poston Mill Park, Peterchurch Hereford, would like to say a great big thank you to Herefordshire Council without whom they would not have been able to purchase their fantastic new electric bike.

Electric Bike

The park, set in 33 acres of glorious Herefordshire Countryside offers touring and camping holidays as well as Holiday Home ownership and a selection of hire holiday properties, produced a travel plan earlier this year to look at alternative methods of transport and how best to travel around the 33 acre park.

The main problem area was travelling to and from the hire cottages, and how the team travel to and from work, it was concluded and felt that motor vehicles were used a little too often.

The Park already have one electric vehicle, a golf buggy, but if the golf buggy was already in use, rather than using push bikes the team were sometimes using motor vehicles. The main reason being that the properties were just that bit too far to ride to on a push bike, and the team felt warn out and tired if they had to bike up the entrance hill too often and then return to the reception desk to meet and greet customers.

Herefordshire Council were offering a Travel Fund Grant, for businesses that had completed a travel plan, and whom they thought would benefit with some help to implement the travel plan. The council's initiative for providing a travel plan and alternative methods of transport inspired Wayne and Sarah Jones (owners) to look at an alternative transport system for the team.

The result was an application for a Travel Fund Grant. A full grant was applied for, for a new Electric Bike complete with basket, lights and helmet that all the team could use both on and off the park with the help and advice from Mastercraft cycles in Hereford we were able to choose the perfect Electric bike.

The fund approved the grant application, the bike was duly purchased and has hardly stood still since, and with members of the team all wanting to use it, like everything we don't know how we managed without it.

The bike will fit in well with the Poston Mill Park ethos of becoming more sustainable and environmentally friendly.
