We are delighted to announce that Best of British members, Woodovis and Wareham Forest were Highly Commended winners in The Alan Rogers 2009 Campsite Awards at Vakantiebeurs in Utrecht recently.

This is particularly impressive as they beat off competition from 2000 parks in 13 countries to be the only two UK parks out of the 31 winners across the various categories.

Woodovis Park in Tavistock, Devon were runner-up in the Alan Rogers Welcome Award, which takes account of parks offering a particularly friendly welcome and maintaining a friendly ambience throughout readers’ holidays.

The judges described the park as:

‘an exceptional site where a friendly welcome is guaranteed. The site has a magnificent location in the grounds of Woodovis House. All staff are very welcoming and a range of top class amenities are on offer including an excellent indoor swimming pool.’

Wareham Forest Tourist Park, Wareham, Dorset were runner-up in the Alan Rogers Country Award which is given to parks which are attractively located in pleasant, rural locations.

The judges described Wareham Forest as

‘a peacefully located and spacious campsite on the edge of Wareham Forest. There are a number of excellent amenities and direct access to many footpaths and cycle tracks including the Sika trail, named after the rare deer living in the forest. Even at busy times, this is a peaceful choice for a family holiday in a superb setting.’

The Alan Rogers Campsite Awards are designed to reflect the variety and the values which are conveyed in their guides.  More than 2000 campsites featured in their 2009 guides and in deciding on the winners for the various categories, comments from their campsite assessors, their head office team and, of course, their readers were all taken into account.
