Wood Farm Celebrates 40 years
Written by Jeanette Wilson
Thursday, 05 April 2012 20:37

My parents, Duncan and Joan MacKinnon bought Wood Farm Caravan Park in 1972. The story goes that Dad, who ran a local hotel, went to post a letter in the post box at the entrance to Wood Farm. He got talking to the owners, Mr and Mrs Hilton, and one thing led to another and soon a sale was arranged.

My father’s hotel background and his commitment to ploughing back the profits into the business made for many changes in the early years. Wood Farm was one of the first parks to offer all weather touring pitches with electric hook up, something that is now expected!

A continual programme of development over the last forty years has resulted in the Park we have today. Our main activity is the provision of touring / tent pitches alongside Caravan Holiday Homes. To enhance the holiday experience for our customers we offer them the use of our indoor swimming pool, café, tennis court and fishing ponds.

The Park is open for 7 months of the year from March to October.

The closed season is vital as it allows time in the winter for larger maintenance and improvement projects.

The Park has a Quality reputation borne out by a 5 star Tourist Board and AA rating and also by being a Best of British Park.

Introducing The Old Oaks Frequent Visitor Loyalty Club
Written by Jeanette Wilson
Monday, 19 December 2011 10:34

Our reward to our most valued guests

Here at The Old Oaks Touring Park, we're both fortunate and proud to say that many, many of our guests return year after year. Some 'old timers' have been coming for as long as 20 years. So we must be doing something right!

So we thought it was about time we rewarded our best customers by giving a little something back. That's why we've introduced our Frequent Visitor Loyalty Club.

Here's how it works - the more you stay, the more you save

Based on the number of (full price) nights stayed during 2011, we've issued either a bronze, silver or gold loyalty club membership card to all guests who stayed the highest number of nights:

21 - 34 nights stayed = Bronze = £1 per night discount

35 - 49 nights stayed = Silver = £1.50 per night discount

50+ nights stayed = Gold = £2 per night discount

Cards are valid for 2 years so even if you don't visit us the first year, you'll still get your discount in the second year.

Every new member receives a lovely shiny card and a unique customer reference and membership number, which can quoted when making telephone and online bookings.

How do I get a card or an upgrade?

Each December we’ll work out how many nights you’ve stayed during the year and if you qualify for a card or a higher level card, we’ll write to you. Simple.

Your questions answered

Will I still get my senior citizen discount?
Yes.  Your membership card may be used in conjunction with our senior citizen discount (over 60s) and our single person discount (during qualifying periods), but may not be used in conjunction with any other discounts or promotions.

What if I’ve already booked dates for next year before I get my card?
Don’t worry, you won’t miss out on your discount.  We’ll check our records and make sure we add your discount to your booking(s) at this end.  If you’ve already paid in full, we’ll adjust your booking and refund you the difference when you arrive.

How long is my card valid for?
Your card may be used against all visits for the 24 months after the card is issued.

What if I stay enough nights to qualify for a card or a higher level card before the end of the year?
New membership cards and upgrade cards cannot be issued part way through the year. If you qualify for a new card or an upgrade, this will be issued in the December and will be valid for visits made in the following two years.

If you have any further questions which haven't been addressed here, don't hesitate to give us a call on 01458 831437 or email us This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Celebrating ten years at The Orchards Holiday Park.
Written by Jeanette Wilson
Monday, 05 December 2011 11:04

They can’t quite believe it but Tim and Julie Gray of Crowe-hill, Ringwood, will have owned The Orchards Holiday Park, Newbridge, Isle of Wight for ten years next year.

“People always say it, but the time has passed very quickly. We have had so many nice times and a few bad ones and we have come to really love the Isle of Wight,” said Julie.

All of the staff have worked tirelessly to keep a high standard of services and facilities on the park and as a result, The Orchards has an excellent reputation amongst campers, caravanners and other holiday park owners.

For 2012 lots of new activities have been planned to entertain guests on the park, including archery and falconry displays.

There will also be some amazing early booking discounts.

Go to www.orchards-holiday-park.co.uk for details of special discounts and activities.

A double 'Green' award for Dolbeare Park
Written by Jeanette Wilson
Sunday, 27 November 2011 12:20

Dolbeare Park, is proud to announce that it recently achieved the David Bellamy GOLD Award for conservation. This has been an interesting and difficult award to win since Dolbeare Park’s ethos is more towards sustainability so finding a practical way to combine sustainability and conservation has been the biggest challenge. Dolbeare Park will continue to build on its achievements and encourage greater visitor participation and involvement.

The Park is also delighted to announce that at the recent Cornwall Tourism Awards, Dolbeare was recognised for it’s achievements towards ‘Sustainability’ and was awarded a Bronze Award. The sustainability award is very competitive and an excellent win for Dolbeare Park. The Assessor comments “The most innovative features include the excellent monitoring systems and the information point and website promoting low mileage options … the sustainability ethos is clearly communicated.”

Dolbeare Park, is also a member of the Green Tourist Business Scheme (GTBS) and earlier this year achieved the GTBS GoldStar Award (for green ambassadorship, innovation and cost savings) and the Best Carbon Footprint Award. Dolbeare Park is one of only two businesses to achieve both awards.

Dolbeare Park is a 5 star touring caravan and camping park in Cornwall. It is a member of the Best of British Touring & Holiday Parks Group and is also a member of CoaST (Cornwalll Association for Sustainable Tourism).
