Trethem Mill is a finalist in the Enjoy England Awards for Excellence 2010
Wednesday, 03 March 2010

Trethem Mill Touring Park is absolutely delighted to announce that it has been chosen as a finalist in the forthcoming Enjoy England Awards for Excellence 2010. This means the Park will definitely walk away with either Gold or Silver in the category “Caravan/Holiday Park of the Year”.

All the national finalists announced were selected from over 100 regional winners submitted by regional tourist boards and were rigorously assessed by independent assessors and a team of judges to make it through to the final. All the winners will be unveiled at a glittering awards ceremony held in the Corn Exchange at The Brighton Dome on 23rd April in celebration of St George’s Day.

The judging panel said:

These awards really showcase the wealth of high quality and affordable holiday experiences on offer in England today.

The judges were impressed with the huge, continued investment made by tourism businesses across all categories in spite of the recession. These finalists demonstrate how successful that commitment to quality has been and we feel that the results reflect the very best that England has to offer

This news follows hot on the heels of the two other Gold awards the Park has recently won – Caravan Park of the Year 2009 with both the Cornwall and Southwest Tourism Awards.

New Facilities Centre at The Orchards Holiday Park

The team at The Orchards Holiday Park is delighted with the response to their new Facilities Centre.

Completed on schedule in April 2009, the new Facilities Centre provides visitors with a range of top quality amenities that will enhance their holiday experience, whilst also encompassing the latest in green technology. The building itself is a striking combination of a modern barn-like design whilst also being sympathetic to the surrounding countryside.

It consists of shower and washbasin cubicles, toilets, family bathroom and family shower room, baby changing/bathing room, accessible toilet and shower room. A large self-service launderette/ironing area, washing up and veg prep area have fantastic views across rolling countryside. There is also a hikers and bikers clothes/boots drying room.

Great care has been taken to include many energy saving initiatives into the planning. The Facilities Centre has solar panels, which pre-heat the hot water; it has non-concussive, flow reducing taps and shower heads, low energy light bulbs activated by PIRs and a condensing boiler. It also has the luxury of under-floor heating throughout.

It was important to the Orchards team to ensure that local businesses and local tradesmen were used at each stage of construction.

2009 was a good year for The Orchards as the holiday park was highly-commended at The South East Excellence awards and also received an 8th David Bellamy award for conservation.

Lincoln Farm Park in the High Street in the village of Standlake – has been named as the best campsite in the 2010 AA Caravan and Camping Britain and Ireland Guide awards.

Stephen and April Wilders quit their cleaning business and spent two years travelling the country to find the perfect park and settled on Lincoln Farm park two years ago.

The park, which has just re-opened for the season, is run by Mr and Mrs Wilders together with wardens Brian and Pauline Johnson and Mike and Chrissie Pillin and the site’s nine acres of grounds are maintained by Gordon Waldford.

The AA award was judged by a group of inspectors, and Lincoln Farm Park was cited as the overall winner because of its standards of maintenance and high levels of customer service.

It was the second time the campsite has won the award as previous owner, Jeff Hawkins, won it in 2002.

The 90-pitch park has two indoor swimming pools, a fully-equipped gym, a pitch and putt area and a games room, as well as an animal corner, with chickens, quails and rabbits, and a playing field.
