Special Distinction Award for Beverley Park |
|
Wednesday, 11 August 2010 |
|
The Jeavons family have achieved a Special Distinction Award from
David Bellamy for the children's letter-boxing trail at Beverley Park.
Beverley Park created the letter-boxing trail at the start of their
2009 season. They wanted an outdoor, fun children’s activity that was
something that their customers could do as a family. To follow the trail
around the park, they need to solve each of the nature clues. After
collecting all 10 stamps hidden around the park, each child receives a
nature bookmark.
Helping visitors to understand conservation is considered an
important qualifying feature of the award. Nicola Furneaux, manager,
commented, “We thought it would be good for introducing our customers to
our local nature and environment in an enjoyable and educational way.
We take a special pride in helping our holiday customers to come closer
to the countryside and are very pleased to receive the award for our
continuing commitment to conservation and the environment. Winning such a
prestigious award is a wonderful achievement”.
Fran Taylor, marketing assistant, helped to set up the trail and
painted the individual letter-boxes, “As well as increasing the
customers’ awareness of the park environment and wildlife, it is fun
activity. We are delighted with the positive feedback that we have
received from our customers. It has been very successful and this season
we have created letter-boxing trails on our other parks, Ashvale and
Whitehill Country Park.”
In conjunction with the British Holiday and Home Parks Association,
David Bellamy Conservation Awards are for parks that demonstrate green
policies that are particularly innovative and demonstrate best practice
and dedication.
If you haven't already tried the trail, make sure you do the next time you visit!

Caravan Magazine has written an article on the Best of British organisation in their Summer issue 2010, that includes a visit to Woodovis Park.
Some of the highlights from the article:
Sometimes, your run-of-the-mill site simply won't do. Alix O'Neill rounds up the UK's top luxury touring parks
The 'Best of British' parks occupy a different stratosphere from your average UK campsite. From spotless facilities to immaculate grounds, first class service to cracking entertainment; if a BOB site were a hotel, it would be the Ritz Carlton!
Caravan recently stayed in one of BOB's star sites, Woodovis Park in Devon, and
can vouch for the group's impeccable standards.
Everything about Woodovis is designed with the discerning caravanner and motorhomer in mind, from the heated indoor swimming pool to the newly installed, state of the art sauna, that's also energy efficient; from the idyllic rural setting, to the friendly wardens on first name terms with every guest. |

Trethem Mill Touring Park is absolutely delighted to announce that it has been chosen
as a finalist in the forthcoming Enjoy England Awards for Excellence 2010. This
means the Park will definitely walk away with either Gold or Silver in the
category “Caravan/Holiday Park of the Year”.
All the national finalists announced were selected from over 100 regional winners submitted by regional tourist boards and were rigorously assessed by independent assessors and a team of judges to make it through to the final. All the winners will be unveiled at a glittering awards ceremony held in the Corn Exchange at The Brighton Dome on 23rd April in celebration of St George’s Day.
The judging panel said:
These awards really showcase the wealth of high quality and affordable holiday
experiences on offer in England today.
The judges were impressed with the huge, continued investment made by tourism businesses across all categories in spite of the recession. These finalists demonstrate how successful that commitment to quality has been and we feel that the results reflect the very best that England has to offer
This news follows hot on the heels of the two other Gold awards the Park has recently won – Caravan Park of the Year 2009 with both the Cornwall and Southwest Tourism Awards.
