Practical Motorhome Independent Site Reviews: Sept 2006
Set on the edge of Wareham Forest, this 43-acre site has gone from good to great. The access roads have recently been upgraded, and extra hardstandings have been added. The heated outdoor swimming and paddling pools have been re-lined, and the surrounding area has been paved to create a separate space for relaxing.
Wherever you go on this site, you'll appreciate the sense of space. Facilities are top notch, and there's a large recreation field with a state-of-the-art children's adventure playground. In high season, the on-site shop sells freshly baked goods from its own in-store bakery.
The site is surrounded by acres of woodland, with many walks and a cycle track around the periphery. The town of Wareham is less than two miles away and you'll find an indoor swimming pool, a cinema, and tennis courts there. The golden, sandy beaches of Bournemouth are within a short drive, too.
• 15 miles to Brownsea Island for wildlife guided tours and walks. Ferries from Poole Quay (tel 01202 631828), Sandbanks (tel 01929 462383), Swanage (tel 01202 558550).

Practical Caravan Great Escapes recommended park Nov 2005
This family-run site is set in 43 acres of woodland on the edge of Wareham
Forest. It really does feel spacious, especially around the reception
area, while the games area, with its adventure playground in the centre,
is enormous.
Most of the 200 touring pitches, all of which have 15A electric hook-up,
are large and others are absolutely huge. There are eight fully serviced
pitches, and more are to be added. Toilets are scrupulously clean and the
domestic-style showers provide plenty of hot water.
The site features a heated outdoor swimming pool with children’s paddling
pools and a patio area. A well-stocked shop sells home-baked bread and croissants, wine and spirits. A pub with a restaurant is located one mile away.
Cycle tracks run around the site and into the forest, and dogs are
permitted. Barbecues are also allowed, provided they are kept off the
ground. Security is currently being improved. The gates are locked at
night, and all incoming and outgoing vans must pass reception.
Off-site, there are pleasant, sandy beaches in Poole and Swanage.
If you are looking for a coastal site that’s spacious and close to amenities, this is ideal.

Practical Caravan Top Sites for Castles May 2005
Situated at the edge of Wareham Forest and within easy reach of the Purbecks, this site has good leisure facilities that include a heated outdoor swimming pool and a paddling pool.
The spacious touring pitches are arranged in rows, and eight are fully serviced, including TV connections. Many of the pitches were recently upgraded to hardstanding. The children’s play area has also been improved. There are forest walks, cycle tracks and dog walks in abundance.
Park owners Tony and Sarah Birch live on site, which is good for security. In addition, all vehicles must pass reception, and the entrance is locked between 11pm and 7am.

This family-owned and -managed site is situated on the edge of Wareham Forest and within easy reach of the Purbecks. It provides an excellent centre for those who want to enjoy the peace and quiet of a countryside holiday without the provision of endless amenities.
Not that there is anything lacking here: there is a heated outdoor swimming pool and paddling pool, the two toilet buildings are exemplary, with free and adjustable hot water for showers and dishwashing, a full launderette, and provision for the disabled. There is a fully stocked shop, open in the high season, and basic items are available from reception during low season.
There are 200 spacious touring pitches, all with 16A electricity supply. A great deal of work has recently been done on upgrading many of the pitches to hardstanding. Laid out in rows, all the pitches are spacious, and some are enormous. The children’s play area has exemplary multifunction units set on a base of play sand. The whole site is spacious without appearing big: there are forest walks, cycle tracks and dog walks in abundance.
Those looking for sandy beaches will find them at Poole and Swanage, and all the holiday amenities of Bournemouth and Weymouth are within an hour’s drive.
Security is good: the owners, Tim and Sarah Birch, live on site, and all vehicles must pass reception, and the entrance is locked between 11pm and 7am.
All in all, this is a five-star site in a location that country lovers will enjoy

Situated on the edge of Wareham Forest and within easy reach of the Purbeck Hills, this family owned and managed site provides an excellent centre for those who want to enjoy the peace and quiet of a countryside holiday without the provision of endless amenities. Not that there is anything lacking here: the heated outdoor swimming pool and paddling pool are extensive, and the two toilet blocks are exemplary, with free hot water for showers and dishwashing, full laundry facilities, and provision for access by the disabled. There is a fully stocked shop, open all year.
There are 200 spacious touring pitches, all with 16A electricity supply, and of these, eight are fully serviced, and include a TV aerial point.
A great deal of work has recently been carried out, upgrading many of the pitches to hardstanding (more than 400 tons of shingle have been laid to make this possible). Set out in rows, all the pitches are spacious – some are enormous. The children’s play area has been upgraded, with exemplary multi-function units set on a new base of play-sand.
The whole site is spacious without appearing too big: there are forest walks, cycle tracks and dog walking facilities in abundance. Those looking for sandy beaches will find them at Poole and Swanage, and all the holiday amenities of Bournemouth and Weymouth are within an hour’s drive.
Security here is good: the owners live on site and all vehicles must pass reception. The entrance is locked between 11.00pm and 7.00am. This is a five-star site, in a location which country lovers will enjoy greatly. It is also a member of the ‘Best of British’ sites group.
