Somerset, South West England
Waterrow Touring Park is an adults only caravan park and camping site, situated near to the Somerset/Devon border and a short drive away from Exmoor National Park. Waterrow Touring Park is the perfect location for adult singles or couples who wish to experience camping in Somerset and explore the outstanding natural beauty that surrounds the whole area.
Waterrow allows you to rent a pitch for your own motorhome, and while there are a small number of tent pitches, demand is high and these tend to be snapped up quickly. All motorhome pitches have their own power supply, and television signal amplifiers. The relatively small size of the park makes it a welcoming and peaceful location for anyone looking to escape the pressures of life and enjoy a relaxing break in the Somerset countryside. Dogs are allowed into the park, and even have their own dedicated field for them to run around in and enjoy the holiday for themselves!
There are a selected number of activities available for those who are looking to stay occupied on site, including watercolour painting classes for those of an artistic ilk. If you want to be more active you have the option of bringing your bike along. Beware, however, that the terrain can be quite demanding, so you may need to invoke your inner Bradley Wiggins!
Outside of Waterrow Touring Park, there is a number of great places to visit. The North Somerset and East Devon coastlines are both reachable in under an hour, while there are outdoor swimming pools, fishing lakes, and a number of National Trust properties, including Arlington Court, are all in the nearby area. Oake Manor Golf Club can also be found only 15 minutes outside of Waterrow.
Alternatively, those looking to escape the countryside for an afternoon can be in Taunton Town Centre within half an hour, where there are a number of great shops, restaurants, and bars.

- Wiveliscombe (known locally as Wivey) is approximately three miles away.
Bampton is 7 miles away just over the Devon border, the centre of Bampton is a conservation area.
Exmoor National Park is within half an hour’s drive of Waterrow. Popular places to visit are Tarr Steps, Dunkery Beacon, Lynton and Lynmouth and the Doone Valley.
Other towns worth a visit are Taunton – County town for Somerset – Tiverton, Dunster, Dulverton and Minehead.
If you enjoy walking there are many lovely walks around Waterrow and we are on the route of the West Deane Way.
If you would like to bring your bikes, you need to be quite fit as this is a hilly area!
The Somerset Levels are approximately 30 minutes drive, wonderful for walking, cycling and birdwatching.
You can fish in the River Tone on the Park, but you need to be quite good! You can also fly fish at Exebridge, Clatworthy Reservoir or Wimbleball Lake.
There are also coarse fishing venues close by in Waterrow and at Shillingford, Oakford and Langford Lakes – all within ten minutes drive.
Steam Railway- joy twenty miles of glorious Somerset scenery as the steam train gently rolls back the years on its journey.
If you are lover of gardens, National Trust properties and country homes you will enjoy visiting some of the following places :-
Knightshayes Court, Hestercombe Gardens, Arlington Court, Killerton House, Dunster Castle , Cothay Manor and Gardens, East Lambrook Manor and Tintinhull.
Oake Manor Golf Club is 15 minutes drive from the site.
Outdoor swimming pool at Wiveliscombe, sports centres with swimming pools at Tiverton, Wellington and Taunton.
Seaside
If you love the sea we are equidistant between the North Somerset and East Devon coastlines, both approximately 50 minutes drive away. - Tourist Attractions
- Exmoor, West Somerset Railway, Hestercombe Gardens, Knightshayes Court, Dunster Castle and the beautiful North Somerset Coast - to name but a few.
- Directions
- Leave the M5 at Junction 25 (Taunton). Follow the A358 (signposted Minehead) around Taunton and then take the B3227 (former A361 scenic route to North Devon) - signposted Wiveliscombe, Barnstaple. At Wiveliscombe cross straight over traffic lights towards Waterrow (3 mls). The park is on the left after passing The Rock Inn.

Practical Caravan Top 100 Parks awards 2007.
This is an ideal site for adults wanting a peaceful, pretty base from which to explore the delights of Somerset. The adults-only policy means families will have to look elsewhere, but that will suit many.
The site’s owners, Tony and Anne Taylor, greet you like an old friend and it’s soon obvious how much pride and effort they put into this touring park. The facilities are kept beautifully clean, and the garden-like surroundings are immaculate.
Dog owners are welcome, and there’s even a field for dogs to run around in. The woodland river walk gives a fine taste of the scenery and will whet your appetite for a more challenging hike on nearby Exmoor. Once you’ve had your fill of walking and taking in the views, you can relax at the country pub just up the road.
Should you feel like learning a new skill during your stay, the site runs watercolour painting courses. If fishing is more your thing, that’s available on-site too.
If you plan on introducing friends to touring this season, Waterrow Park can help. It hires out touring vans for use on site
– an ideal way of introducing novices to the pleasures of caravanning before they move onto such things as towing.
It’s worth noting that this site is open all year. Regular visitors will find it fascinating to watch the landscape change through the changing seasons at this little gem of a touring park.

Owned and managed by Tony and Anne Taylor, who greet you like an old friend, it is easy to see why their customers return year on year. From the moment you enter this beautifully kept, adults-only site, you are constantly delighted by what is set before you. It really is a surprise to find that Tony and Anne have only been operating this gem for the past six years.
The stunning Somerset scenery around the site is glorious and can be viewed from just about every one of the 48 pitches. Being open all year allows visitors the chance to watch the changing seasons, and devotees of winter touring will be pleased to find that all the park’s facilities also remain open all year.
The site runs popular ‘Learn how to…’ breaks between May and October, giving visitors the chance to sample courses in such diverse areas as fly fishing and beginners’ Spanish. Just think how impressed colleagues would be if you returned from a break in Somerset speaking a new language!
A purpose-built disabled unit deserves special mention. The superb shower and toilet facilities, accessed with your RADAR key, are exceptionally well-thought-out and maintained, as are the rest of the park’s facilities.
Taunton and the surrounding area lie a short drive away, and a half-hour’s drive gives you access to the Exmoor National Park at Dulverton. Dunster Castle and Hestercombe Gardens are also pleasant diversions, each worthy of a day trip.
