Cannot believe the previous two reviews!!!!!Having recently returned from a three week stay on this site( for the sixth year in sucession), we have always found all of the staff to be extremely helpful, courteous and efficient. The site ,itself, is well maintained even if some of the pitches are a little bare, which is hardly the fault of the warden and his staff as the site is open and well attended throughout the year. ..Surely this speaks volumes for the popularity of the site.We never found any problems at all with the toilets and the shower blocks.
It is our intention to return for another three weeks in 2010 and have already booked. We suggest people visit this site and try it out for themselves

I agree with the previous two reviews. If only I had read these before booking. They are spot on. A horrible site - staff unfriendly and unhelpful, toilets a disgrace, (same 'mess' in a toilet for our entire stay!) bins overflowing. I even went into the shower block straight after 'cleaning; and couldn't tell the difference. There was no control over noise. The pitches for tents were very stony and uneven. The club house at Merley and Oakdene were dirty and the food was dreadful. It was a very unfriendly site and it ruined our long awaited holiday. We will sticking with Camping and Caravan sites now. Should NOT be a BOB site in any way.
Response from Merley Court Touring Park on 9 Sep 2009:
Shorefield Holidays Limited are sorry that you did not enjoy your stay at Merley Court Touring Park.

Merley Court welcomed over 4000 visitors to the park this year and our customer feedback resulted in complaints of less than 0.5%. We continue to invest in all our parks each year based on our customers feedback and Merley Court is no exception, with improvements to the parks facilities scheduled after a busy summer season. We are pleased to announce that Merley Court has once again been grated 5 star status into 2010.

We welcome all customer feedback, whether it is receiving praise or listening and learning when we need to. We would like to thank you for your personal feedback and assure you that we will be dealing with all individuals comments directly in person.

We have caravaned and camped for many years and always choose to stay on the 5* sites, in paticular the Best of British campsite. without doubt this is one of the worse parks we have ever encountered. we shall also be writing directly to the Best Of British board to complain about this listing. This truely is an abissmal park. It is certainly not worthy of the Best Of British Award. The staff on site were rude and unhelpful at best. Clearly there was insufficent removal of rubbish and cleaning of facilities. The toilet blocks were disgusting at best as was the washing up area. The park lacked control as our cars and trailer were repeatedly hit by children playing with balls. After paying a supplement for a second car we were informed on arrival that they could not guarentee a parking space! There was no dedicated dog walking area despite being charged for the dogs and being informed that this was the case. The sign posting is almost non existant and the lighting after dark is poor. Do yourselves a favour and give this park a miss

If only we had read these reviews before booking. * Should not be a best of British site * I have just written a 5 page complaint letter regarding our time there. We were booked on a pitch not suitable for our trailer tent and ended up on the football pitch with balls damaging our property and the noise we put up with from early campers arriving at 4 in the morning, coupled with heavy goods lorries on the road right next to the makeshift pitch was ridiculous. Walking around the park, pitches were seemingly quite cramped. I agree with the state of the toilets too, now others mention it - I was even in the shower when men entered without warning to empty the sanitary bins! BE WARNED YOU MAY GET YOUR CAR DAMAGED IF YOU PARK IN THE CAR PARK AT THE ENTRANCE - we watched in disgust as kids kicked hefty footballs into the parked cars left there. How they didn't smash a window is anybody's guess? AND if you do have kids and a dog you will not be able to use the Inn as they have a ridiculous policy of not letting dogs and kids in the same area. I could go on ....

Yuck!

Oh so very crowded. Most of the pitches do not have sufficient parking space, therefore its simply cars everywhere!

The shower blocks are clearly not checked or cleaned throughout the day - therefore they were dirty, and often flooded! I was witnes to a woman taking a tumble as the ground outside one of the blocks was so slippery.

Some lights around the park were not working leaving some areas very dark.

However, if these things were improved upon, it is in a great location with lovely surrounding coutryside. With loads of things to do right on its doorstep.

1st time at this site, and a good base for Poole / Bournmouth, site was clean, and the wardens were helpful .. The area for football was dismal, and too far from the touring area, it appears that shorefields have used what would have been a good little play area for ball games in the middle and used it for more pitches..(got this from previous reviews) .. Pitches did feel a little cramped..

We stayed at Merly Court for a few nights during June this year. We have a lovley time, Big pitches flat and well kept. We enjoyed the pool and play areas, The walks round the wooded pitch area were fun for the kids, plenty of shower and toilet blocks all clean and well kept. Out of the 6 outings we have had with our trailer tent this year I would say this was my favorite site. A great base for visiting the coast.
