What makes a park Best of British?
The Best of British Touring and Holiday Parks group is a marketing group made up of five star, privately owned parks throughout the United Kingdom, which are committed to providing the highest level of quality and customer service. The Group is overseen, on a voluntary basis, by a Board of Directors, all of whom are park owners.
The criteria which a park has to meet to be accepted as a member of the Best of British Touring and Holiday Parks group falls into two categories.
Firstly, a park seeking membership of Best of British, is visited by one of the Directors to ensure that the park and management style fits the quality and service ethos of the Group. On completion of a successful park visit, the park owners are required to agree to follow the Best of British Members' Charter. |
This Charter stipulates that member parks adhere to the following principles:
- To give customers that additional special attention in making them welcome on arrival at the park and throughout their stay
- To provide the highest standards of service and facilities possible on their park
- To offer all visitors a Best of British Brochure on arrival to make them aware of other member parks in the group throughout the UK who are committed to offering a similar level of quality and customer service.
|
Secondly, the park needs to have attained a five star grading, the highest level possible, within the British Graded Holiday Parks Scheme which is administered in Scotland, England and Wales by, or on behalf of, the relevant tourism authorities.
Parks are visited annually by trained, impartial assessors and the star rating awarded, based on cleanliness, environment and the quality of facilities and service provided, reflects the overall quality of the park.
The highest rating of five stars, which is a prerequisite for membership of Best of British, is reserved for those parks of exceptional quality which also provide specific key facilities and services. |
To achieve a five star grading, a park has to have:
- Basic groceries either on the park or in close proximity to the park
- Appropriate Park lighting
- Twenty four hour access to a public telephone
- Heating available in any toilet block open between 1 September and 31 May when required
- Electric hook up points for 75% of touring caravan/motor home pitches
